Odisha`s patchy performance continued in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy East Zone Under-19 Cricket Tournament as they lost to minnows Tripura by 114 runs in a league match at JSCA Oval ground in Ranchi today. This was the second humiliating defeat in three matches for Odisha, who had lost to Bengal by 159 runs four days ago.
Chasing a stiff target of 258, Odisha were bowled out for 143. Debaprasad Singha was the wrecker-in-chief of the Odisha batting line-up, bagging five wickets for 41 runs. Devendra Kuanr was the top scorer for Odisha, hitting a 24-ball 41 with the help of three hits to the fence and four over it.
Earlier, Tripura rode on a captain`s knock of 75 by Dipayan Debbarma and a 50-ball 61 by Randeep Paul to muster a healthy total of 257. The win fetched Tripura four points, while Odisha drew blank.
